VIOLIN MAKER
He attended the International School of Violin Making “Antonio Stradivari” in Cremona and he graduated in 1982 under the guidance of Master Gio Batta Morassi. After school he worked for some years in the atelier of Master Giorgio Scolari where he completed his professional training acquiring major skills in the restoration of antique instruments and repairing sectors while continuing the construction of new instruments. In 1989 he opened his own workshop. He makes violins, violas, cellos and double bass and reproduces and restores string and “pizzico” baroque instruments. His production is inspired by the great “Cremonese” masters of the past -Stradivari-Guarneri-Amati- as well as modern and contemporary violin makers; his varnish produced in is own laboratory, is brilliant and transparent yellow-gold-brown with a red undercoat.
From 1996 he is a teacher of construction and varnish techniques in the International School of Violin Making in Cremona. He has taken part and distinguished himself in various exhibitions and competitions. His instruments are recognized and appreciated throughout the world for their shape but also for their sound warm, clean and powerful. Since 2010 he has moved in a new workshop in via Trecchi 8 in the heart of Cremona where he works with the precious help of skillful assistants.
Massimo Ardoli was a member of the jury at the violin-making competition of Pisogne 2014.
